South Coast Tour

This private tour takes you along Iceland’s dramatic South Coast and includes one of the country’s most exciting glacier experiences — a visit to the famous Katla Ice Cave.

Your day begins with pickup in Reykjavík by your private driver-guide. As you travel along Iceland’s southern coastline, you will pass lava fields, glaciers, mountains, and black sand plains created by powerful volcanic eruptions.

The first stop is Seljalandsfoss waterfall, where a walking path allows visitors to walk behind the cascade for a unique view of the waterfall and surrounding landscapes.

Just a short walk away is Gljúfrabúi, a hidden waterfall located inside a narrow canyon — a magical place many visitors miss.

Next you will visit the powerful Skógafoss waterfall, where glacial water falls 60 meters from a wide cliff. On sunny days, rainbows often appear in the mist rising from the waterfall.

The adventure continues toward Vík, where you will join a super-jeep glacier tour operated by professional guides. From there, you will travel across the black sand plains toward the Katla Ice Cave, located beneath the massive Mýrdalsjökull glacier.

Inside the cave you will see stunning formations of blue and black ice, volcanic ash layers frozen inside the glacier, and dramatic natural ice tunnels created by melting glacier rivers.

After the ice cave adventure, the tour continues to Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, one of Iceland’s most famous coastal landscapes. Here you will see the striking basalt column cliffs and the powerful waves of the North Atlantic crashing onto the volcanic sand.

Before returning to Reykjavík, you will stop in the village of Vík, where you can enjoy scenic views, take photos, and relax after an unforgettable day exploring Iceland’s south coast.
