Description

This private tour explores the dramatic landscapes of Iceland’s South Coast and includes a visit to one of the country’s most unusual landmarks — the Sólheimasandur Plane Wreck.

Your journey begins with pickup in Reykjavík by your private driver-guide. As you travel along Iceland’s southern coastline, you will pass lava fields, glaciers, rivers, and towering mountains shaped by volcanic eruptions and glacial floods.

The first stop is Seljalandsfoss waterfall, where visitors can walk behind the waterfall for a unique and unforgettable perspective.

Just a short walk away is Gljúfrabúi, a hidden waterfall located inside a narrow canyon — a magical spot often missed by many travelers.

Next, you will visit the powerful Skógafoss waterfall, where glacial water cascades 60 meters down a wide cliff. On sunny days, rainbows frequently appear in the mist rising from the waterfall.

The adventure continues across the black sand plains of Sólheimasandur, where you will walk across a dramatic volcanic desert to reach the famous DC-3 plane wreck. The aircraft crash-landed here in 1973, and today its remains lie abandoned on the vast black sand landscape, creating one of Iceland’s most iconic photography locations.

After visiting the plane wreck, the tour continues to Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, where you can see towering basalt column cliffs and the powerful waves of the North Atlantic.

Before returning to Reykjavík, you will stop in the coastal village of Vík, where you can relax, take photos, and enjoy views of Iceland’s dramatic southern coastline.
